The Rutini family´s winemaking heritage began in the early 19th century in le Marche, Italy, where Francisco Rutini started making wines for the citizens of his native town, Ascoli Piceno. In 1925, the Rutini family planted the first vineyard in Tupungato. Named after one of Mendoza’s mountain peaks, the Tupungato valley was no more than a stop-over on the road to the mountains when the Rutini family behan planting vines there.

Rutini is a part of one the biggest winery called  “La Rural” and is also one of the oldest wineries in Argentina. Since its foundation in 1885, the Rutini winery has been noted for the outstanding quality and character of its wines. Uniting a long winemaking tradition with the desire for constant evolution and innovation, Rutini Wines are today recognized as one of Argentina’s most prominent and successful wine producers. 

First and primary concern was always quality. At an elevation of 3000 to 5000 feet, the Tupungato Valley offers many different microclimates and is today recognised as one of Mendoza’s premier viticultural regions. In the last decade the winery undergone sustantial modernisation and the vineyards have benefited from Catena’s outstanding vineyard management team.

Rutini wines have participated in competitions around the worl, obtaining many awards, as well as gaining excellent press commentary in key international wine publications such as The Wine Spectator and The Wine Advocate.

Nowadays winemaking at Rutini Wines is headed up from 1995 by Mariano Di Paola, a key figure in Argentina’s wine industry. Tith over twenty years experience, Mariano is considered one of the Argentina’s top winemakers, and his talent, expertise and individual style are clearly expressed in each and every one of his wines.

With a stainless steel tank capacity of 3 million litres, 1,4 million litres in oak casks, 5,6 million litres in epoxy-lined concrete tank and 600 000 litres in French and American oak barrels, Rutini Wines is one of the most impressive and oldest top quality wine producers in Argentina.  At Rutini Wines is produced between 7 and 8 million litres of wine a year, exporting approximately 30% of the total production.
